Prayers for Wisdom: Introducing 31 Days of Proverbs
One of my most consistent prayers has been asking God for wisdom. Little did I know,, He answered that prayer the moment He instructed me to do 31 days of Proverbs after completing the 40 Day Prayer Challenge. It was October 3, 2023 when God gave me these instructions, and we began the study of Proverbs November 11, 2023 ending December 11, 2023,
I was very excited to embark on this journey and receive everything that God had waiting for me once I realized that Proverbs was considered the book of wisdom. As I look back now, I can see with even more clarity how God was laying the foundation and preparing me for the execution of a vision that still feels too big for me. When God started instructing me to create this website, start a blog, build a business, and begin leading bible study, I felt completely unprepared. I didn’t feel like there was enough time in the midst of everything He had me doing for me to adequately prepare bible study lessons. And then He reminded me that it was already done.
The Holy Spirit led me back to old journals and bible study notes that I’d written, typed, and recorded over the years and I heard the still, small voice of God saying “All of the time you spent with me in the secret place was preparation for a time such as this. I told you that you already have everything you need. Now use it.” It was in that moment that the vision became clear, the path unobscured, and the mountain transformed into a molehill. I realized that by being obedient 2 years ago, God was able to give me everything I needed to be obedient in the future and take the path of least resistance.
Because you see…another prayer that I pray often is for God to lead me in such a way that current me does everything she’s supposed to do, so that future me can simply grab the baton and continue forth with the mission, without having to pause and first do what current me was supposed to do. I love being able to look back in hindsight and see just how faithful God was in answering that prayer. When that happens, my favorite line is “YASSSS, holding myself down since 1996 **snaps in Z formation* 😌😂”. I meeeeaannn….despite the rewards, this journey is long and hard so imma hype myself up everytime when I manage to get it right lol.
Okay, moving on, I said all this to say…regardless of where you are in your relationship with God, it is imperative that you take the time to not just READ the book of Proverbs, but to truly study it under the guidance of The Holy Spirit so that you can receive the wisdom God wants to impart on you in preparation for where He’s taking you. The manifestation and specific fruits of this tree will look a little different for each of us, because God’s plan is different for each of us. However, the roots (God’s word) will be the same.
So, as you take this ride with me, I want you to remember that I am not sharing this for you to do exactly what I have done or apply the lessons in the exact way The Holy Spirit instructed me to. I am simply exposing you to ways God has shown up in my life and to some of the tools He has for His children so that you can take it back to the Father and discern how He wants to do the same for you. Be sure to ask Him how this lesson or these words apply in YOUR life, what is HIS truth for YOU in THIS season.
As I am preparing these lessons for public consumption, this will be my 3rd time completing 31 Days of Proverbs since 2023. Every time, I grow deeper in revelation and God exposes the text to me in a new way. So if you’ve done this before, let go of the pre-conceived notion that you already know all there is to know about Proverbs and allow God to reveal Himself to you in a way that you haven’t experienced before. And if this is your first time, it most definitely will not be your last.
Regardless of when you are embarking on this journey, I pray that God opens your heart and mind to receive, perceive, and understand Him in fresh new ways. I pray that His revelation power manifests in your life. I pray that His word becomes alive for you in ways that you have never experienced before, and most importantly, I pray that you receive everything God has for you on this journey. In Big Brother Jesus' name, Amen.
P.S. Don’t feel like you have to be perfect on this journey. Consistency is the key, not perfection. So if you miss a day, don’t allow the enemy to sow seeds of guilt and condemnation in your life. Simply pick up the next day and keep moving forward. Through the power of Jesus, You gots this 🙏🏾!
